COMPUTEX: An update on the Corsair chassis

Computex is held from June 4 to 7 in Taipai (Taiwan) this year. And even if the show is focused on computer equipment, we are still able to discover a Corsair chassis. So we’re delighted to see a new brand enter the world of car simulation. But what did they actually present? Let’s find out!

Corsair unveils its simracing chassis

While we were expecting Corsair to unveil a base, or at least some simu gaming peripherals following the publication of their earning call of May 7, 2024, it turns out that it’s only a chassis still in prototype form that was presented. Perhaps talks with Endor AG (Fanatec) about buying out the German brand prompted them to delay or cancel these announcements. But that’s pure speculation!

Let’s talk about this chassis, we don’t have the name or the prize yet. It should be available for purchase by the end of 2024.

What can we say about the technical side of things?

  • The cockpit is made of tubular steel,
  • cable passages are provided for cable management,
  • the structure seems very rigid, at least in the few videos available on the net,
  • the depth of the base and pedals can be adjusted without tools thanks to rails,
  • the seat can be tilted from GT to Formula without tools,
  • shifter and handbrake support,
  • ultra-wide screens can be installed directly behind the base,
  • an extra-large PC mount is available behind the screen (possibly as an option),
  • and a host of options and accessories are available, aimed particularly at streamers. For example, there’s a microphone holder, LED lighting panel holder, stream deck, etc.

Brand communication also emphasizes the chassis’ ease of assembly and, above all, its sturdiness. In fact, when you see the structure, you tend to believe in the overall rigidity of the thing. Of course, it remains to be seen how much this cockpit will cost, as tubular construction remains less practical than aluminum sections in terms of modularity, adjustments and upgrade options. A big question mark, then, which we won’t be able to answer until the end of the year.

Let me know what you think of this announcement! Were you expecting a Corsair chassis? And what are your expectations of it? Anyway, we’ll be happy to talk about it below, or live on Twitch every Wednesday from 8.30pm.
