PC steering wheels: choosing the right model for the right simracer.

OK, you’re looking for a PC steering wheel to indulge your passion for sim-racing, and you need some help? That’s what we’re here for! The choice for PC gamers is enormous, and every price range offers at least 2-3 wheels with varying reputations and performance!

Budget PC wheels (€150 to €300)

So, first, why don’t I show you models under €150? Simply because we’re here to talk about sim racing! If you want to buy a toy with no force feedback, feel, or precision, you’ve come to the wrong place. I’ve chosen to present only models that are worthy of your interest. 🙂

There are two brands in this range: Logitech and Thrustmaster. Logitech stands out for its lack of initiative and its ability to sell us the same steering wheel again and again under different names… Thrustmaster has carved out a place for itself in the hearts of gamers by offering models with a very interesting quality/price ratio.

Spoiler alert: the best choices for a budget of up to €300 are the T150 and TMX.

Thrustmaster T150 et T150 Pro low Price

The cheapest force feedback steering wheel on the market. Small downside for the pedal board, which is cheap on the basic T150, but at this price, it’s difficult to be more demanding. Upgrade to the T150 Pro version to have a T3PA pedal set with clutch if you plan to buy a gearbox!

We’re getting down to the nitty-gritty with good-quality models at “reasonable” prices. In this price range, Fanatec takes the lead. The CSL DD has clearly put the smackdown on all competitors in this price range.

Have you always dreamed of a Direct Drive but don’t want to sell your car and rent out your dog? Perfect! The CSL DD gives you access to a good Direct Drive while opening up the Fanatec ecosystem.

The T300RS remains the best choice in the mid-range offering on PS5. Its force feedback is better than that of the G923, and its 3-pedal pedal set makes it an ideal companion if you want to evolve your setup long-term!

Elite models (over 900€)

Let me warn you right away. If you’re starting out in the sim racing world, I strongly advise you against these models. You’ll find top-quality PC flywheels here, but their prices are skyrocketing. Most are not plug-and-play. In other words, you must know how to configure your steering wheel and its force feedback before setting off.

This range only includes direct-drive steering wheels. If this is what you’re looking for, I suggest you read the Direct Drive guide I’ve written especially for the occasion!

Spoiler alert: while Fanatec has largely dominated the market for years, Asetek SimSports is hitting back with models of unprecedented precision and fluidity.

Among other things, they have produced the best hydraulic pedal sets under the €1,000 mark, and recently, they released 3 Direct Drive bases, which clearly made everyone agree on their very, very high-end quality.
