The Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally finally available!

The new Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally is finally available. Created in partnership with the M-Sport Rally Team. This all-new module made its debut in the Ford Puma for the 2022 and 2023 WRC season. And while it took almost two years from its creation to its release to the public, it’s fair to say that its release comes at just the right time. It comes just in time for the release of the new EA WRC, which is proving to be a worthy successor to Dirt 2.0! So what’s the latest on this new Fanatec HUB? Let’s take a look at the brand’s announcement!

Fanatec Podium Rally in brief

Designed for rallying, it can be purchased alone. But be careful, to place it on a Fanatec base you will need a “HUB” like the Fanatec Podium Hub which is inserted between the box and the steering shaft.

Fanatec has pulled out all the stops

If there’s one thing we already knew, but which deserves to be emphasized once again, it’s the visual as well as physical quality of the HUB. It is currently equipping the Ford Puma of the M-Sport team for the 2022 and 2023 WRC seasons. Quite simply, it’s a professional-grade HUB validated for competition use.

For some years now, Fanatec has been accustoming us to this level of demanding quality. The Fanatec Bentley Wheel was an incredible first experience. Then there was the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3, which really hit the nail on the head. In short, whatever you think of the brand, Fanatec, unlike many of its competitors, knows how to make real equipment for real drivers. And they offer simracers the luxury of having the same equipment. Putting an end to the endless debates in the community about who makes the best gear or who has the biggest (steering wheel?! ^^)

The module was in the hands of Sébastien Loeb when he won the Monte Carlo Rally in 2022. And 2019 world champion Ott Tänak won Rally Sweden and Rally Chile 2023. So it’s not just a quick try, but two seasons of WRC that the module has already taken in its stride. And M-Sport even admits that this module is more practical and lighter than its former professional modules.

A redesigned position for greater rigidity

Unlike the Fanatec CSL Universal Hub and Fanatec Clubsport Universal Hub, this new model is mounted not behind but in front of the steering wheel. Let me explain… On the CSL and Clubsport models, your HUB is positioned between the steering wheel and the steering column (or base). Here, it’s the other way around. Your steering wheel sits directly on the column, and the HUB sits on top of it. The aim is to eliminate any risk of torsion or play between the steering wheel and the column.

Take it alone or with steering wheel and HUB?

Fanatec has decided to offer the Podium Button Module Rally on its own or with a HUB. You can order it on its own for €249.95 incl. VAT, but be careful! You’ll need a HUB to mount it on the steering shaft of your Fanatec base.

Fanatec Podium Hub

The most economical remains the Fanatec Podium Hub to directly connect your Podium Rally module to your Fanatec base.

Fanatec Clubsport Universal Hub V2

More expensive than the Podium Hub, it also exists in an X Box compatible version. It’s not necessarily the best alternative but if you already have one at home then it will do the trick!

The other option is to order the complete Fanatec Podium Steering Wheel Monte Carlo Rally package for 699.95€, including :

  • Podium Button Module Rally (249.95€),
  • Podium Hub sold at 149.95€,
  • QR2 Pro (199.95€),
  • Sparco R383 330mm wheel (285.95€).

Our expectations

With the arrival of the new EA WRC, I can’t wait to test this new module. Especially as the new CS DD bases with integrated QR2s are likely to be making a detour home! So I hope to see you soon to tell you more about it!
