Forte® Formula Pro Steering Wheel
Details of the Forte® Formula Pro steering wheel
If you know anything about the Asetek brand, you’ll notice the resemblance with the Invicta steering wheel, and you’d be right. André Eriksen explained how they’ve managed to cut costs without compromising quality.
On the steering wheel is the RaceView™ 60 Hz display (a display technology developed in-house). The advantage of developing their own display technology is simple: Asetek doesn’t rely on third parties for feature or software updates. Everything is controlled by RaceHub™. Naturally, the display is SimHub-compatible.
The 4.3″ 60 Hz touchscreen offers accurate reading of race information, while the 800 x 480 resolution guarantees faithful, true-to-life rendering of all essential race details.
The steering wheel is designed with fiberglass-reinforced material, offering a light yet extremely rigid driving experience, reminiscent of real racing. But far more durable and robust than anything you’ll find on a real racetrack.
The differences with the Invicta steering wheel
We spoke to André Eriksen, CEO of Asetek, who explained the differences between the Invicta steering wheel and the Forte Formula Pro. The Invicta range is Asetek’s top-of-the-range brand.
In fact, there are 3 elements to consider: choice of materials, manufacturing and personalization. For the Forte steering wheel, cost reduction was achieved through the choice of materials: instead of using an aluminum structure, it’s made of plastic composite.
André Eriksen – Asetek
According to André, by modifying a few elements while retaining quality, costs are reduced and we end up with the Forte Formula Pro steering wheel.
The 2 elements that change are the aluminum plate, which is a plastic composite on the Forte Formula Pro steering wheel, and the absence of the 2 buttons on the rear of the steering wheel.
Customization
Unlike the Invicta steering wheel, certain customizations are blocked on the Forte, such as the choice of button colors (you’ll be limited to black and orange). On the other hand, you can choose between suede, Formula XL or LMP grips and paddles.
