RevoSim is getting into the sim racing business, and you can be sure they’re going to make some noise. Wondering who’s behind this new brand? Well, it’s Nacon! They’ve been working on their ecosystem for over a year and a half now, and have decided to unveil their progress today at BigBen Week. So what are RevoSim’s ambitions? How have they developed their products, and what can we expect from their first bundle? That’s what we’re going to find out together, thanks to some exclusive information I’ve been able to gather worldwide!
A little background on RevoSim and Nacon
I presume you’ve all heard of Nacon? It’s one of the world’s leading manufacturers of gaming peripherals. As a simracer, I was most familiar with their KT Racing studio, which for years has developed WRC, Test Drive Unlimited and is currently working on Endurance Motorsport Series. Non-sim gamers also know them for their high-end headsets and controllers, such as the Nacon Revolution 5, which is aimed primarily at competitive gamers. But in reality, they produce an extremely wide range of tech products, from sound systems to Sim Racing equipment.
In April, I was lucky enough to be invited by Nacon to their head office in Lille to ride a prototype of their racing bundle. It was an opportunity for them to receive feedback and suggestions for improvements to make it an absolute banger. And for me, to understand the nuts and bolts behind the creation of a range. But I have to confess that, apart from a few technical details, their base – flywheel – pedalset bundle was already very accomplished, and in a position to compete directly with market leader Fanatec. Because yes, the Frenchmen from RevoSim intend to slap the Germans from Fanatec in the face on their own turf. And they’ve really given themselves the means to do it the right way.
RevoSim: not just a bundle, but an ecosystem
At the time of writing, a bundle is being completed. It includes a Direct Drive base, which has a lot going for it in terms of torque, compatibility and overall technical specifications. A well-thought-out, upgradeable steering wheel that emphasizes handling and finish quality a notch above its direct competitors. Then, of course, there’s a well-thought-out Load Cell pedalboard with a wide enough range of settings to delight 95% of players.
But RevoSim has made it very clear that they don’t intend to simply make up the numbers by launching a bundle and then leaving gamers wanting more for years to come. An ecosystem is in the making, and will be arriving in the months following the release of this first bundle. So keep an eye on this one, and be sure we’ll keep you informed!
Complete software and a dedicated application
In other good news, the brand has worked hard on the software side, with the creation of a complete software package that has nothing to be ashamed of when compared with its competitors. But also a dedicated application! An application that won’t just be used to modify your force feedback settings, but more on that soon 😉
My thoughts on Nacon’s arrival on the Sim Racing market
Whether in terms of hardware or software, RevoSim has really put in the financial, human and time resources to develop a bundle capable of hitting the mark. We can’t wait to tell you more about it, so see you in the coming weeks/months to discover all the details about the Direct Drive RevoSim by Nacon bundle!
