The history of the brand
Founded in Switzerland in 1981, Logitech is best known for producing computer hardware such as keyboards, headsets, and remote controls. Of course, we’re most interested in the brand’s sim racing division.
In 1998, Logitech launched its first steering wheel. Today, the G29 and G920 steering wheels are true bestsellers. Logitech then rolled out its sim-racing accessories, creating stainless steel shifters and pedals.
It wasn’t until September 2022 that the brand finally delivered something new. With the Logitech G-Pro, the Swiss entered the Direct Drive competition. The technology once reserved for wealthy gamers is now affordable and compatible with home consoles!
The Logitech ecosystem
Step by step, the brand has developed several accessories for sim racers. The Driving Force, Shifter, and stainless-steel pedals.

Future challenges for the brand
Logitech’s recent entry into the Direct Drive market marks the first time the company has changed its approach to sim-racing. Previously focused on entry-level products for gamers just starting out, they are in the upper mid-range.
We await with curiosity and impatience what the brand will offer regarding steering wheels and other peripherals because, with the Direct Drive G-Pro, they’ve got something to play for. It remains to be seen how their ecosystem will evolve and what innovations they will bring. At a time when Direct Drive brands are multiplying, they have to fight to give gamers good value for money.
