Fanatec Clubsport Steering Wheel F1 ESports V2

Following Fanatec’s announcement of its range of steering wheel wheels for 2022, the model that caught our eye the most was the Fanatec F1 ESports V2. This is probably the F1 steering wheel that has undergone the most changes between V1 and V2 this year. So let’s take a look at this new model together 😉

Design and ergonomics

In concrete terms, the Fanatec Clubsport F1 V2 is built on the same base as the V1. There are many similarities, but it’s in the details that this V2 makes all the difference.

Below, you’ll find photos of both models to get your own idea 😉

As you can see, these are clearly very similar products. Yet there are a few subtle but important differences.

The most obvious are the finishes. The choice of materials seems a step up from the V1. Personally, I didn’t like the buttons on the V1 at all, which I found really cheap. Here we see that Fanatec has opted for the same buttons as on the Clubsport Formula V2.5, and that’s a pleasure!

Another major evolution is the paddles! As on the entire Clubsport range, Fanatec has decided to integrate real, adjustable magnetic paddles on the V2.

The upper LED bar is no longer limited to 3 colors, but is now adjustable via the Fanalab. And we note the much-appreciated appearance of two rows of LEDs indicating race flags or wheel lock.

In short, we’re getting very close to the characteristics of Clubsport Formula V2.5, and it’s a pleasure.

Installation and compatibility of the F1 ESports V2 steering wheel

Installation of the steering wheel requires Quick Release QR1. When Fanatec finally releases its QR2, you’ll be able to change your Quick Release just as easily.

In terms of compatibility, we’re sticking with PC and Playstation. There’s no information to suggest that an X Box version is planned.

What about the price?

Well, it’s a pleasant surprise that, despite all the improvements made to V2, its price is only €20 higher than V1! That brings us to €269.95 for a licensed Fanatec F1 wheel that has everything it takes to become a best seller.
