New from the Germans! After several months without much news from the Germans, we’ve finally got something to look forward to: the Fanatec CS Pedals V2. A new “entry-level” model for the brand that had already released a CSL pedalset in 2021.
So, what’s new about this pedalboard? With a price tag of €299.95, is it really more attractive than the €199.95 CSL V1? Let’s find out.
The Fanatec CSL Pedals V2 in brief
- Compatibility: PC, Playstation, Xbox
- Pedals : 3
- Sensors: Magnetic for throttle and clutch
- Load Cell: Yes – Pressure sensor up to 90Kg on brake pedal
- Vibration: No

What’s new about the CSL V1 pedalset?
Well, the first obvious difference is the materials. The Fanatec CSL pedals LC were made of steel, which, let’s face it, was rather average in design. This time around, we’re treated to an all-aluminum construction and even a little powder-coating. Love it or hate it, but there’s an effort that wasn’t there on the V1.
The other major difference is the way the brake pedal works. For this new model, Fanatec offers two-stage braking, as on the Clubsport V3 pedalset. First, the pedal is depressed, compressing a spring. Then, when the spring is fully compressed, elastomers are compressed.
Another exciting new feature is that Fanatec supplies the pedalset with a choice of elastomer hardnesses as standard(hardness index: 65, 75 and 85), so there’s no need to go back to the cash register to change the hardness of your brake.
It’s also worth noting that brake adjustment and elastomer changes can be carried out in just a few minutes, without the need for tools. You can also change the rubber pedal pads if you wish. However, pedal positions are not adjustable.
But who is the Fanatec CSL V2 for?
That’s the very first question I asked myself when I saw Fanatec’s post. If we put it up against the CSL V1, OK we’ve got a nice finish and a two-stage braking system… But let’s not forget that it’s not much cheaper than the Fanatec Clubsport V3 at 399.95€! And the V3, both in terms of finish and functionality, is something else altogether.

So we’re going to keep an eye out for it, and try to test one out quickly together to see whether or not it belongs on your chassis. But in the meantime, don’t hesitate to let me know your expectations and reactions to this crankset. I’ll do my best to find answers to your questions 😉
See you in the comments!
