Gran Turismo 7 on PS4 and PS5

After the usual suspense from Polyphony Digital, we finally have access for Gran Turismo 7 since March 4, 2022!

The big question we’ve been eagerly awaiting an answer to: is this Gran Turismo 7 PS4 and PS5 compatible or not? Here’s the latest news on the subject.

Gran Turismo 7 is indeed coming to 8th and 9th generation PlayStation consoles.

Sony has confirmed via an independent press advisory that the decades-old Gran Turismo series will welcome a seventh installment on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. Incidentally, the PS4 has only received Gran Turismo Sport to date. Previous PlayStation consoles had always spawned two opuses of the saga each.

Gran Turismo Sport was a huge success for Sony and Polyphony Digital, and still boasts almost 200,000 active players 5 years after its release. Even though Sony has passed the 10 million PS5 sales mark, many players are still on the waiting list, frustrated at not being able to get their hands on the console.

The news that GT7 will be released on both consoles is a relief for many gamers! PS4 owners who can’t or don’t want to buy the PS5 will be able to enjoy GT7 with their current console.

On the other hand… It’s certain that the die-hard fans of racing games and racing simulations who paid for a new console to enjoy the new Gran Turismo might be disappointed, as their previous console would have sufficed. Sorry guys… it’s the law of the market!

Quiet! It’s a secret…

No details have yet been released about the differences between the PS4 and PS5 versions of Gran Turismo 7.

We still don’t know anything about the release date, however… The invariable answer to this question remains 2022. And it’s fair to say that Sony and Polyphony Digital have been slow to share details and images of the game!

Yet fans of the saga have had a long wait. GT Sport was originally released as a multiplayer-only racing title, with the emphasis on online racing rather than the single-player campaigns so typical of its predecessors.

Gran Turismo 7’s name suggests a return to career and single-player modes. GT Sport has developed to offer single-player content too. But much of GT Sport’s focus remains on the huge online racing community. International tournaments and world championships are a big part of this.

As for the secrets surrounding this release, let’s not forget the partnership between Fanatec and Polyphony Digital! This contract between the two brands will inevitably lead to the creation of a new steering wheel. Maybe even the Fanatec GT DD Pro😉

What are you going to do about it?

Gran Turismo is considered a sim-arcade game, not a simulation. Yet many simracers are still succumbing to the announcement of a new episode in the series.

So will you be tempted? And if so, are you going to opt for the PS4 or PS5 version?
